We Are Living In Some Terrible Times!

I took Glenda out for breakfast this morning to a restaurant that we have been to a couple of times over the last few years.  I had some business to take care of in a certain part of Rockford and when asked where she wanted to eat, she came up with the same restaurant that I was thinking about.  We sat there and visited, watched people and talked about our day before our food finally came out of the kitchen.

The meal was tasty and knowing we had some business to take care of, we didn't spend a lot of time eating.  The waitress brought us our bill and I paid for the meal.  As we were about to go out the door, she brought up a story of something that had happened to her.  She had "taken a little road trip" a few weeks ago and stopped at a gas station to buy some drinks and snacks to eat and drink as they traveled.  She paid for them with her credit card.  When they got the bill a few weeks later, it was charged an additional $160.00+ from this same gas station.  She told us they were able to get it fixed, but the gist of her story was that you can't trust anyone anymore.  And then she added, "We are living in some terrible times!"

As I drove away from the restaurant, I thought about what she had said.  My question is this:  Why can people see these terrible times in the physical realm, yet have no clue what is going on in the spiritual realm?  Jesus said in Luke 15:54-56,  "When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, 'It's going to rain,' and it does. And when the south wind blows, you say, 'It's going to be hot,' and it is.  Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time?

Paul writes in II Timothy 3:1-5, "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people."

Paul is digging into the spiritual realm around us when he prophesies about these things.  Why in this day and age would someone charge an extra $160+ on this lady's credit card?  Because they love themselves more than they do her!  Because they love money!  Because they need money to buy more pleasures!  There are all sorts of reasons for it.  But it is not just an issue of extra money on a credit cared, but the violence and heart ache all around us, too!

If you recognize that things are changing, and in a big way, but don't understand why?  Get into the Word of God and begin to read about some of the last days prophecies before the return of Christ!  Satan is going to take the return of Jesus in a passive way!  He has some tough times coming for us all!  Are you ready for Jesus to come again?  Think about it!

  1. It's in these terrible times when I appreciate the love and support from my brothers and sisters at New Life. It felt so good to talk to so many of you on Sunday after we've been gone so much this summer. Thanks! I love you all.

  2. Thanks for the insight Gary. I have been far more aggressive in my thought processes lately in regard to why the physical is falling apart. Getting feedback too. Some encouraging, some vindictive. I love them both. The sword of truth has two edges. Hope they both cut me to the core of my being. All I desire is to be a man of God. That's it!
